Ellaville Methodist Church Choir sings at Perfect Care

On March 2, the Ellaville United Methodist Church Choir made its monthly visit to Perfect Care to sing to residents. Those that went were the Rev. Jonathan and LeeAnn Beckum,Wayne and Nora Morrow, James Morrow, Darlene Lewis, Judy McClellan, Alan and Heather Schultz, Jimmy and Marianne Phillips, and Mary Nan Pilcher, choir director.
Jonathan Beckum, Wayne Morrow Sr., James Morrow, and Alan Schultz presented special music and the other choir members joined in and sang.

New barbecue business opens in Ellaville

A new business has opened in Ellaville B’s BBQ, owned by local resident, Brandon Albritton.
The Ellaville-Schley County Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon cutting ceremony on opening day.
Brandon said that he had attended two barbecue schools where he had been in competition for two or three years, and that the cook-offs were successful for him.
B’s BBQ hours are from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. “from three to four days a week.” Brandon has a full time job at Fort Benning as a paramedic. His days off will be when he opens  the barbecue business.
B’s BBQ’s menu includes barbecue sandwiches and plates, rib plates, brisket plates and sandwiches, slaw, potato salad, chips, drinks and more. He has a trailer with his kitchen in it and you will see it across the street in front of Gas n Go station on the corner of Broad and Church streets.
Brandon said that he has been doing well since he opened. He the son of Cecil and Paula Albritton of Ellaville. Congratulations to Brandon on opening his new business.

Ellaville Methodist Ladies Circle meets

On March 6, the Ladies Circle of Ellaville United Methodist Church held its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the church.
President Sharon Wall called the meeting to order, and Nora Morrow opened with prayer. During the business session, Secretary Ann Gill gave her report and Jacquelyn Dillard gave the treasurer’s report.
This circle has been selling knives, Danny Duzzits, and vanilla extract and other kinds of flavorings for years. If anyone would like to see as book or purchase an item, call Jacquelyn Dillard at 937-2224 or Sharon Wall.
After the meeting, Jacquelyn Dillard presented the program from a book she found on meaningful words and statements.
Refreshments were served by Nancy McMath Young, hostess this month. She served lemon cheese cake and coffee.
Those that attended, in addition to those already named, were Mary Ellen McCorkle, Brenda Phillips, and Carlyn Kirby.

Ellaville-Schley historical society holds membership meeting

The Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society held its annual Membership Meeting at 7 p.m. March 11 at the Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion.
Susan DeVane brought her mother’s old family clock, which is over 100 years old, and a checkerboard that Susan’s great-great-grandfather made for her mother at the age of 90.
Judy Eason McClellan brought a lot of interesting items such as scrapbooks made by her mother, old ledgers kept by her father for the farm.
Joseph Eason brought books and papers of his records of how much he owed field hands.
A large Tondee picture was shown by Wilbur Justice. His maternal grandmother was a Tondee.
Jennifer Rainey Esfahani mailed her Rainey Family History from Houston, Texas, to the historical society for the meeting. The old Rainey home still stands today, home to Margaret Gooding.
After the meeting everyone enjoyed cake, cookies, brownies, coffee, and tea.
