ALBANY — Mr. Malcom “Mac” Roberts, age 69, passed away on Wednesday morning, March 22, 2017, in Albany, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.

 

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. The Rev. Rusty Mauldin will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening, March 24, at Hancock Funeral Home, and at other times at the family residence.

A native of Sumter County, he was born May 25, 1947, a son of the late Edgar Roberts and Rena Belle Hart Roberts.

Mac was a self-employed paint contractor. Along with his wife Sheryl, he owned and operated Economy Homeworks. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a former member of Americus Lodge No. 1895 Loyal Order of Moose.

A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, and cooking. He loved to share food he had cooked with others.

Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Lynn Johnson Roberts of Americus; stepsons: Eric Pierson (Priscila) of Orlando, Fla., Michael Pierson (Dena) of Virginia Beach, Va., and Kevin Pierson (Jennifer) of Americus; grandchildren: Carley Waite, Amber Pierson, and Sydney Pierson of Virginia Beach, Caitlin Pierson and Dylan Pierson of Orlando, Fla., and Jon Robert Pierson of Americus; one sister, Josephine Polk of Americus; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Terrence Polk (Pat) of Mableton, and Shelby Polk (Sharan), Ronald Polk (Michelle), and Connie Roberts Forsyth, all of Americus.
