AMERICUS — Mr. Paul Cochran age 88, of Americus, Ga., died peacefully Friday, March 24, 2017, at Perfect Care. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Cheek Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Earl Dunmon and the Rev. Rick Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017, in the Fellowship Hall of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church.

Mr. Cochran was born Jan. 18, 1929, son of the late John Thomas Cochran and the late Lizzie Higdon Cochran. Mr. Cochran graduated from South Georgia Technical and Vocational School in 1955, where he earned a diesel mechanic certificate. He worked for Fox International in Americus, Ga., the mobile home industry, and was self-employed. He was the owner of Cochran Tool and Welding Service. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Gideons International. He was a past deacon of Cheek Memorial Baptist and Faith Baptist Church. He was an active member of Christian Fellowship Church. He was also a member of the Servants Quartet for many years.

Survivors include: one daughter Deborah C. Short (Rufus) of Americus, Ga.; two sons, Michael Paul Cochran (Nancy) of Americus, Ga., and Mark Andrew Cochran (Lynn) of Covington, Ga.; six grandchildren, Griff Short, Kelly Bazemore, Katie French, Andrea Walker, Garek Cochran and Andrew Cochran; and eight great-grandchildren, Lucas Short, Ethan Short, Nate French, Mary Ellis Bazemore, Ella French, William Walker, Carlisle Bazemore, and Clara French.

Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by his wife Martha Ann Norton Cochran and 10 siblings.
