MACON — Alex Frank Thompson, Jr., age 67, of Americus, died Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Coliseum Hospital in Macon. He was born June 28, 1949, in Colquitt, to the late Alex Frank Thompson Sr. and Charlie Mae Haire Thompson.

He served a 40-year, successful pastoral ministry in the Church of God. Most recently he served as associate pastor, and was a mentor and lifelong friend to Pastor Bud Womack, at Life Point Church. He was a faithful husband, loving father, and devoted grandfather.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 14, 2017, at Life Point Church. Pastor Bud Womack and the Rev. Trey Thompson will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel or at other times at the family residence.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Wanda M. Thompson of Americus; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Jeff Campbell of Prattville, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Haven Thompson of Gadsden, Ala.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law: C.D. and Ocie Thompson of Colquitt and Bradley and Brenda Thompson of Brunswick. Also surviving are six grandchildren: T.J. Campbell, Kaelyn Campbell, Beau Thompson, Luke Thompson, Reid Thompson, and Ray Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
