• Firefighters responded to 25 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on West Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Lee St. to a report of an odor of natural gas. Inside, they found a gas shut-off valve that was cracked open. Gas department personnel shut off the gas line.
• Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire on Patterson Street. The small fire was contained to the engine compartment.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
• Firefighters responded to a report of an authorized burn on Douglas Circle. The owner told them she had been burning leaves and it was still smoking. She was advised of the City’s no-burn law.
• Firefighters responded to Eastview Drive to a report of a wild land fire. They extinguished the fire behind Eastview Apartments and notified the Georgia Forestry Commission. They responded again to the same location later due to a rekindle.
• Firefighters responded to Anthony Street where they saw light smoke coming from a small area near a fallen tree. GSW Campus Police had extinguished the fire before their arrival.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on South Hampton Street. The alarm was activated by cooking.
• Firefighters responded to wires down on West Glessner Street. They removed a telephone line from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to East Forsyth Street to a vehicle fire.
• Firefighters responded to Lee Street to a water leak. They found a pipe underneath in sink leaking and shut off the water.
• Firefighters responded to traffic accident on Lonnie Lane.

• Bonnie S. Jackson of 117 Sharon Circle, Americus is charged with failure to maintain lane, and driving on wrong side of roadway.
• Chad S. Lowe, 24, of 610 S.
