Southland’s Studdard named to GISA All-region golf team after Raiders host 3-AAA tournament

AMERICUS – The Southland Academy Raiders hosted the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Region 3-AAA varsity golf tournament on April 17 at the Griffin Bell Golf Links in Americus.
The Raiders took third-place honors at the region meet, turning in a team score of 338 on the local course.
Brookwood Academy took the first-place title in the tournament, with their team members shooting a 309, followed by Deerfield-Windsor, with a total score of 319.
The Raiders had one team member named to the All-Region team for his performances in the 2017 region tourney. With his impressive score of 75 over the 18-hole round, Chandler Studdard received All-Region honors.
Mitchell Goodin, Adam Hanley, Townsend Ray, and Will Minick also represented Southland at the region tournament.
Other players on the Southland roster are Lily Philpott, Tyler Joiner, and Miles Maxwell.
Brookwood’s Chip Thompson was also named to the All-Region team with a score of 70 at the tournament. Valwood’s Parker Highsmith, Brookwood’s Sam Barrett, and Deerfield’s Hill Houston will also be joining Studdard on the All-Region team.
The Raiders’ golf team also participated in the GISA Class AAA state tournament on April 24 in Brunswick.
