ALBANY — Judy Lynn Brooks Bowers, 61, of Americus died Friday, May 5, 2017, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. She was born Sept. 13, 1955, in Atlanta to Edith Smith Brooks and the late Charles Edward Brooks. She was a past Girl Scout leader and owned and operated several businesses, including Wayne’s World and Quick Recovery. Her main goal in life was to be the most devoted mom possible. No matter the event, she was always there to support her daughters. Additionally, she was a mentor to many people in this community.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2017, at Central Baptist Church with Fred Bowers and Dr. Brian Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Wayne Bowers of Americus; her mother, Edith Brooks of Americus; two daughters and sons-in-law: Shelly and Glenn Godwin of Ellaville and Courtney and Josh Brown of Americus. Also surviving are a brother, Edward Brooks of Fayetteville; and four grandchildren: Madison Godwin, Alyssa Godwin, Kinley Claire Godwin, and Colton Brown.
