Southland tennis wraps up season on strong note

The Southland Academy Raiders and Lady Raiders tennis teams finished the 2017 Tennis season on a strong note.
The Lady Raiders completed their spring season with wins over Tiftarea (2), Crisp Academy (1), and Glenwood (1).
The Lady Raiders were led by number-one player, Ana Coloma-Arias. Coloma-Arias was the Region 3-AAA girls champion, defeating four-time defending champion, Rachel Cooper of Brookwood, at the region tournament.
Coloma-Arias would then go on to finish as the GISA state runner-up in girls’ singles tennis at the GISA state tennis tournament at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center in Macon.
The Lady Raiders were also led by seniors, Morgan Jones and Mary Martin Shealy. Also competing for the Lady Raiders were as follows:  junior, Susanna Fowler; sophomore, Scout Davis; freshmen, Maddy Copeland, and Leslie Ann Farr; and eighth graders, Sara Bass and Ada Ruth Larsen.
The Raider Tennis squad scored five wins over Crisp Academy (1), Tiftarea (2), and Valwood (2).
The Raiders were led by seniors Jeremy Ledger, Chance Westra, and Dillard Snider. Also competing for the Raiders were juniors, Sam Copland, McCartney Cummins, Davis Comer, and Sam Usery; sophomore, Bradley Kitchens; freshman, Gray Torbert; and eighth-grader, Shubh Patel.
