AMERICUS — Jasmine Mercer of Plains has been named Student Affairs assistant at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), announced SGTC President John Watford. Ed.D., recently. She will report to SGTC Director of Admissions Whitney Crisp and SGTC Vice President of Student Affairs, Institutional Support, and Technology Karen Werling.
A graduate of SGTC’s marketing management program, Mercer is excited about her new role. “I loved being a student at South Georgia Tech, and I’m honored to have been hired by my alma mater,” she said. Mercer was involved with Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) as a student at SGTC.
“It is always a pleasure to be able to hire one of our graduates,” said Watford. “South Georgia Technical College provides a quality education. This is a win-win situation for our students and the college when we have a position available that matches the skill sets of our graduates. As a recent graduate, Jasmine should be able to relate to new students who are applying and registering for the different programs. She will also know how important it is to provide the outstanding customer service and assistance that our students need and deserve.”
Previously, she was employed as a Community Relations specialist with Innovative Senior Solutions. In her new role as Student Affairs assistant, Mercer will be responsible for assisting prospective students with general college information, assist with student recruitment efforts, coordinating and giving campus tours and visits, entrance testing, notifying accepted students of acceptance status, mailings, and other administrative duties for the SGTC Admissions office.
Jasmine has three sons, Brandon, 11; Cameron, 9; and Myron, 5.
