Americus Police Chief Mark Scott, in plaid shirt, and Sgt. Al Ross, in gray t-shirt, arrived in Washington, D.C., Friday morning and will be attending the 36th annual National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service Monday on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol during which slain Americus Police Officer Nicholas Smarr and Georgia Southwestern State University Police Officer Jody Smith will be honored in the Roll Call. Scott and Ross are shown here with escorts from the Potomac Police Department. The Americus contingent were also to attend the 29th annual Candlelight Vigil Friday night on the National Mall.
