DESOTO — Mrs. Nancy Hollis Roland, age 69, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 16, 2017, at her home in DeSoto.

A memorial service is planned for 4 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at DeSoto United Methodist Church. The Rev. Guy Mathis will officiate.

Born Oct. 12, 1947, in Cedartown, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Jack Smith and Ruth Milner Smith. Mrs. Roland was a registered nurse, having worked at Sumter Pediatrics. She loved flowers and animals, having a passion for rescuing animals in need.

Survivors include her husband, James Philip Roland; three daughters: Kelly Lynn Coile (Bobby), April Renée Berry, and Amy Ibach; three sons: Charles “Chip” Newton, Shannon Roland, and Ryan Roland; grandchildren: Steven, Sierra, Sumer, Hudson, Hunter, Becky, Christofer, Ansley, Cameron, Jenna, and Kaylie; great-grandchildren: Carter, Weston, McKinley, Brantley, Caiden, Jaylin, and Major; three brothers: Larry, Raymond, and David; three sisters: Susie, Rita, and Stella; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by one brother, Homer Lee Hollis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry Street, Macon, Ga. 31201.
