Mr. Roy F. Daniel Sr., age 90, of 235 District Line Road, Americus died at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center Friday, May 26, 2017. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Reverend Andy Taunton and Reverend Thomas Woolsey will officiate. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Aldridge Funeral Services.

Mr. Roy F. Daniel was born January 14, 1927 in Sumter County. He was the son of the late George Emmett Daniel and the late Minnie McAllister Daniel. Mr. Daniel was a United States Navy Veteran. He spent his entire life as a farmer. He served as Deacon of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 67 years and served on the board of Sumter Bank & Trust and the board of the Sumter Livestock Association. He also served on the board of Farm Credit.

Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Daniels (Preston) of Hixon, TN and Dolly Hooks (Chris) of Americus, GA; two sons, Roy F Daniel Jr. (Jean) of Americus, GA and Ken M. Daniel of Americus, GA; one sister, Mildred Osborne of Americus, GA and three grandchildren, Joey Daniel of Hixon TN, Zack Daniel and Alex Hooks both of Americus, GA.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1256 US Highway 280 E, Americus, GA 31709 and to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd, Americus, GA 31719, or charity of your choice.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Frances Daniel, a brother, George E Daniel and a sister Louise Daniel.
