Black-tie event to benefit local law enforcement

AMERICUS — “Paint the Town Blue,” a fundraising gala presented by the Smarr-Smith Foundation, is set for June 17 at the Georgia Southwestern State University Storm Dome. The funds raised will be used to benefit local law enforcement. The foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.
The formal, black-tie event starts with cocktails at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. Silent auctions will be also be held.
Entertainment will be by Dan Dunn, a speed painting artist. He has appeared on national television several times and has painted many celebrities such as Richard Branson and Natalie Cole. He also has opened or appeared with luminaries such as Shaquille O’Neal, Bill Cosby, Fergie, Chris Angel, Elvis Costello and Lionel Richie, among others.
The band, Complete Desire, will provide music.
Tables are available at $1,500 each (seats eight), and other sponsorships range from $2,000 to $500. Individual tickets are also available at $250 each.
