WASHINGTON, D.C. — Analhi Lizarraga, daughter of Dick and Peggy Minor from Americus, has just completed a summer internship in Washington, D.C. with Congressman Austin Scott (GA- 08). Lizarraga is a senior at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she is a double major in Latin American and Latino studies and anthropology.
“Our internship program provides college students or recent graduates an opportunity to learn more about the legislative process while gaining valuable work experience. It allows them to experience how our government works firsthand,” said Scott.
“Getting the opportunity to intern in Washington, D.C., this summer allowed me to be better educated in our government as well as learn the rich and distinct history of our Capitol. Interning at our nation’s epicenter was an enriching experience, and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve my ‘Peach State’”, said Lizarraga.
Scott offers internships to college-aged students, and those who have recently graduated from college with an interest in the legislative process.
Young men and women selected to be interns have the opportunity to gain a comprehensive view of the practices and procedures of a Congressional office and how the legislative process works. In some cases, college students may be able to obtain academic credit.
