Saturday evening’s Plains, Trains & Fireworks event, sponsored by

One Sumter and the Americus Sumter Tourism Council – along with Plains Better Hometown & Friends of Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, drew lots of people, young and old, family and friends, to the home of former President Jimmy Carter. A main street dance with live music, food vendors, and kids’ activities preceded a beautiful fireworks show after darkness fell. Friends and family members Gloria Simmons, Lisa Hernandez, Diane Bankston and Carol Anderson enjoyed getting together for the event which will be held annually around the Independence Day holiday.

Matt Odum, Tim Kirkeey and granddaughter Cotton also enjoyed the event.

A street dance was also part of the event.
