AMERICUS — Walter Kenneth Morris, age 85, of Americus, died at his residence Thursday, July 6, 2017. A native of Americus, he was born Nov. 20, 1931, the son of the late Curtis and Mildred Morris. As long as Mr. Morris was able to, he loved to share vegetables and fruits that he grew, especially to widows in his church. He was the manager of Sumter Livestock and later a court bailiff. Mr. Morris was a member of and a deacon at Bethel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Golden officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 10 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Pallbearers include Clay Strange, Michael Gilbert, Jake Revell, John Porter, Aaron Morris and Walt Wingard. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 846 Lane Store Road, Americus GA  31709 or the charity of one’s choice.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bobbie Frazier Morris of Americus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Michael Barnett of Hawkinsville and Donna and Chuck Strange of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Beth Morris of Americus; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bickle Thomas of Rocky Ford; five grandchildren, John Porter Jr. (Victoria), Keri Strange Gilbert (Michael), Clay Strange, Haley Strange Revell (Jake) and Aaron Morris; five great-grandchildren, Abigail Porter, Benjamin Porter, Kate Gilbert, Rylee Gilbert and Mason Gilbert; and several nieces and nephews.
