It has been a real honor and pleasure to have served as the Interim President of Georgia Southwestern State University for the past two years. During this time, GSW’s talented faculty, dedicated staff and devoted students have been purposeful in reaffirming the identity and appeal of this great University. In addition to continued enrollment growth, the fiscal resources required to advance the University’s important mission are strengthening. The collective efforts of the campus, community, alumni, donors and friends of the University have resulted in a new and comprehensive strategic plan that provides framework and focus for the University’s future.
It is an exciting time for GSW as we welcome Dr. Neal Weaver to campus next week. Dr. Weaver’s experience will serve GSW well, and I know that the community’s hospitality will allow President Weaver, his wife Kristi and his sons to feel right at home in Americus and Sumter County. There is still work to be done in the months and years ahead. Your continued support of GSW is crucial to the success of the University and vital to the work of preparing civically-engaged students for meaningful lives and successful careers.
I am grateful to GSW and the members of the community for making my service as interim president both productive and enjoyable. Colleen and I will always hold a special place in our hearts for this community and the friendships that were established here. We will forever feel part of the GSW Family.
