COLUMBUS — Mrs. Shirley Dorsey Loflin, age 82, passed away on Friday evening, July 14, 2017, at Columbus Regional Midtown Medical Center.

Services are planned for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 2 and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, preceding the services.

Born Jan. 1, 1935, in Charlotte, N.C., to the late Harry Lee Dorsey and Sally Wood Dorsey, she was the first baby born in 1935, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

A member of First United Methodist Church, Mrs. Loflin was a homemaker and worked with the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving.

Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Reiney and husband Howard; her loving companion, Dr. Frank Star; and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
