Ellaville/Schley Historical Society board meets
On July 11, the Ellaville/Schley County Historical Society board met in the courthouse in the historical society office.
The meeting was called to order by President Nancy McMath Young, and Larry Dillard opened with prayer. Board members present were Kim Lawhorn, Larry Dillard, Larry Wall, Sharon Watson and Nancy McMath Young.
Secretary Larry Dillard gave his report. The new treasurer, Sharon Watson, was welcomed.
Some special announcements were made. The historical society is in the process of repairing the courthouse clock. Schley County Manager Bill Sawyer said he was waiting on the clock company to come at any time.
The historical society will be putting an irrigation system around the courthouse.
The historical society will have a membership meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 19 at the American Legion. All members are urged to attend and to make some suggestions on some projects. Each member is asked to bring someone that would be interested in joining the historical society.
The annual fundraiser — the Historical Auction — is Oct. 7 at the Legion. More information will come later.

Schley County School bells to ring soon
Schley County School bells will ring next week.
All teachers report to school on July 24, and the first day for students is July 28. Students will pick up their schedules and supply list for the year on July 28.

Ellaville Methodist Church Choir sings at Perfect Care
The Ellaville United Methodist Church Choir visited Perfect Care in Americus July 6 for its monthly entertainment for all the residents.
The Rev. Jonathan Beckum sang several specials as well as Maci Lawhorn. Others in the group were Lee Ann Beckum, Sharon Wall, Judy McClellan and her three granddaughters Maci and Kiley Lawhorn and Dannica Morris, Olivia Mallichek, and Choir director, Mary Nan Pilcher. The reverend closed with prayer.

Phoebe Sumter Ellaville Clinic opening soon
The new Phoebe Sumter Ellaville Health Clinic will begin seeing patients Aug. 7 in Ellaville. The new clinic is located at 339 Broad St. This new facility has 5,304 sq. ft. and it has more than doubled the current space. This new location will still have the same care as before with the two family nurse practitioners seeing patients. They are Kate Fussell and Jenny Hatcher.
The Primary Care Center in Ellaville also brings access to Phoebe ‘s large network of specialists.

The new clinic is between the Ameris Bank and the old Dollar General in Ellaville.
