GSW Softball places seven on NFCA Scholar- Athlete Award list

AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University softball players Mikela Barlow, Brittany Davis, Marylen Kennedy, Graysen Sanders, Sabrina Sieber, Kaley Sikes and Emily Smith have been recognized as scholar-athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2016-17 academic year.
Davis, an outfielder from Lizella, Ga., and Smith, an outfielder/catcher from Enterprise, Ala., completed their senior seasons this spring. Baxley, Ga., native Barlow split time behind the plate and in the outfield, second baseman Sanders from Phenix City, Ala., and Leesburg, Ga., native Kennedy were juniors in 2017. Sikes, a pitcher from Perry, Ga., wrapped up her sophomore season and Sieber, who played on the left side of the infield was a freshman from Dacula, Ga.
Student-athletes must obtain a 3.5 GPA or better for the year to qualify for the individual honor.
