Ellaville Rainbow Garden Club recognizes Yard of the Month

The Ellaville Rainbow Garden Club has recognized the Yard of the Month for July. The special sign was placed in the yard of Allen and Elaine Barwick on Robin Way in Ellaville.
The garden club members who placed the sign were Darlene Lewis, Judy Gattis and Mary Ellen McCorkle.
Each month the garden club will recognize a Yard of the Month. If you have a suggestion, call Judy Gattis at 937-2190.

Schley County C-HEART Committee meets

The Schley County Emergency Response Team held its quarterly meeting July 19 in the Schley County Courthouse conference room.
The meeting was called to order by Kristy Smith, Schley County Health Department nurse manager, and manager and Rally Team Leader in case an emergency.
Tamber Fuller with the West Central Health District shared information on descriptions of duties for each team member.
Information was also shared on medications during an emergency.
Those attending the meeting, in addition those previously mentioned, were David Byrd, Nancy McMath Young, Adam Hathaway, Dennis Jones, Duane Montgomery, Berta Cox, Ashley Davis, Lincoln Mitchell of Americus, Hank Wilson and Darrell Enfinger of West Central Health District, Columbus.

Schley County Community Foundation receives grant for playground

The Schley County Community Foundation has received a grant for the Ellaville and Schley County playground to be built in the near future. The Foundation received $15,000 from the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group’s national non-profit. KaBoom.
The grant will be used to build the playground at the Ellaville-Schley County Recreational Complex in Ellaville to provide children with a place to play and be active.
The Schley Community Foundation started working on this project a couple of years ago when John Greene, Foundation president, recognized the need for a playground. They have also raised money with a fund drive.
