AMERICUS —  The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) of the City of Americus has sold the Stein Center building located at 200 Cotton Ave. in downtown to local developer, Mark Simmons of Simmons Land Company, LLC.
The DDA sold the Stein Center with the intent to purchase another property to redevelop.
After selling the Stein Center, the DDA sought after potential projects to take on. DDA director, Patrick Kay, compiled a list of properties suitable for redevelopment and submitted them to the DDA board.
After much review and discussion, the DDA purchased 131 Cotton Ave.
The DDA now seeks potential prospects interested in opening a business in downtown. Prospects are asked to submit a full proposal and business plan of what their vision is for the space.
Kay says, “We’ve received several proposals so far and we’re excited to see what will go into the space after the DDA redevelops the property.”
