COVINGTON — The officers of the Schley County FFA Chapter were part of more than 350 chapter officers representing forty-five FFA chapters from across Georgia that attended one of two sessions of the 2017-2018 Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference (COLT).
The two sessions of COLT were held at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center near Covington, Blue COLT on July 17-19 and Gold COLT on July 19-21. This year’s COLT theme was “WE: Invest. Ignite. Inspire.” Chapter officers were challenged to create a set of standards for their team and write down goals for the upcoming year. Participants attended workshops that focused on professionalism, service, commitment, sharing the message, recruitment, and teamwork. The students also began planning their chapter’s Program of Activities for the coming year and learned strategies for time management, creativity, and communication. Officers were encouraged to make an impact in their school and community and acquired ideas for member involvement, fundraising, and promoting FFA Organization.
“COLT Conference provides a great opportunity for chapter officers to learn ways to work together, set goals, and plan out their year as a chapter officer team,” says State FFA president, Tucker Felkins. s”We appreciate the dedication set forth by these students in creating goals that will help invest in their chapters, inspire their members, and ignite their success throughout this school year!”
