The Schley County Wildcats’ Sept. 8 home match-up against the Georgia Military College (GMC) Bulldogs was cancelled due to reported transportation issues from the visitors. According to reports, the Wildcats will be credited with a win by default and the game will not be rescheduled.
The game would have been the Wildcats’ final chance to hone their skills before opening Region 4-A competition against the Hawkinsville Red Devils on Sept. 15 in Hawkinsville.
The Wildcats will return to their home field on Sept. 22 to take on the Dooly County Bobcats in a region match-up.
Editor’s note:
I’m sure that Schley fans, coaches, and players were looking forward to this weekend’s game. Last season, when the Wildcats and the Bulldogs clashed, the Schley crew earned an exciting 30-3 victory over GMC.
Had the game taken place, it likely would have been a good one, as both teams have significantly improved over the past year and it would have been enjoyable to see them go head to head once more.
