AMERICUS — The Phoebe Sumter Auxiliary recently donated more than 100 Individual Patrol Officer Kits (IPOKS) to local law enforcement in Sumter County. The IPOKS are designed to provide personnel with a compact and durable individual hemorrhage control kit to treat bleeding from penetrating and other traumatic injuries.
The kits will allow deputies to provide immediate self-care if injured while on patrol or training, in addition to providing care to other officers or members of the general public who are injured and in need of immediate medical attention. The kits feature a pair of trauma gloves, combat application tourniquet, hemostatic bandage and 4” emergency trauma dressing, all inside a compact vacuum-sealed pouch.
