Ellaville-Schley Historical Society to host annual auction

The Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society hosts its annual Auction Oct. 7 at the Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion in Ellaville. The Auction begin at 7 p.m. with a barbecue supper served beginning at 5:30 p.m. You may also pick up meals to go as well as purchase pints of barbecue.
This special event helps the historical society to raise money for historic preservation locally.
Anyone may make a donation of items to be auctioned. You don’t have to be a member to make a donation. All donations are tax deductible.
Auction items will be on display until 5 p.m. on the day of the Auction. There will be an Antique Car Show that afternoon before the Auction. If you have a car that you would like to enter, contact Jason Holloway.
There will be three different raffles, starting next week: quilt raffle, Ruger .22 rifle raffle and a 50/50 drawing the night of the supper and auction.
Members can turn in raffle tickets to Kim at Ellaville Floral Shop, Paula at the Gill’s Drugs or Joey at the Pizza Place. Turn in stubs and money.
There will be also be a Bake Sale. If you wish to make a cake for the sale, contact me.
All members are asked to please make their donations to the Auction. Any businesses or individual can also make a donation.

Phoebe Sumter Ellaville Clinic has open house

From 5:30-7 p.m. Sept. 7, the Ellaville-Schley County Chamber of Commerce and Phoebe Sumter of Ellaville Clinic held a Business After Hours Open House at the new facility at 339 S. Broad St.
This special event was open to the public. Refreshments were served by Phoebe Sumter Ellaville Clinic.
The Ellaville and Schley County community welcomes this newly built clinic.

Smoke on the Square BBQ Cook Off

The Smoke on the Square BBQ Cook-Off is Saturday, Oct. 14, downtown around the square. The Schley County Foundation and Chad’s Paint & Body are sponsoring this event.
Get your team and a head cook together and join others in competition for cash prizes and trophies. Teams must cook in all three categories (chicken, ribs, butts) to be eligible to win the Grand Champion title.
Entry fees are $125 for all three categories; $100 for two meats, any combination; $65 for one meat; and $10 electrical fee (120 volts) if needed to cook.
T-shirts are available for teams. Pre-order by Sept. 29 at $15 each; be sure to include sizes and how many. Make checks payable to Schley County Foundation, tax-deductible entity.
