AMERICUS — Ms. Mildred Dennis Harris, age 96, of Americus, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. Dr. Bryan Myers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday in the funeral home chapel and other times at the residence of Fred and Dorita Dennis, 350 District Line Road, Americus, Ga.

Ms. Harris was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Chidester, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Stroud and the late Lela Ophelia Fambrough Stroud. Ms. Harris was a homemaker and member of Central Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Silvertones at Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Fred Dennis (Dorita) of Americus and Charles Dennis of Bainbridge, Ga.; a brother, Charles Dennis (Jennifer Pittman); four grandchildren and spouses: David Dennis (Susan) of Johns Creek, Ga., Janice Dawdy (Kent) of Marietta, Ga., Karen Carter (Brandon) of Kennesaw, Ga., and Christy Dennis (Jeff Benish) of New Jersey; seven great-grandchildren: Gracie Dennis, Claire Dennis, Grayson Dawdy, Caroline Dawdy, Ella Carter, Emmy Carter and Cole Benish. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Ms. Harris was preceded in death by two husbands: Aaron Dennis and William Harris; five sisters, Lucille Rhodes, Fanny Horne, Emma Morris, Eloise Duke, and Erenestine Caldwell; one brother, Austin Stroud, also preceded her in death.
