GSW golf opens fall season with Anderson University Invitational title

Anderson, S.C. – The Georgia Southwestern men’s golf team posted a score of 308 in the final round at the Anderson University Invitational on Cobb’s Glen Country Club on Sept. 19, securing the tournament victory with a two-round score of 615.
The Hurricanes were led by senior Nix Duncan, who posted a four-over score of 76 to finish the tournament tied for second place on the Par 72, 6,961-yard course. GSW finished one stroke ahead of host Anderson (616).
Duncan was named to the All-Tournament team and finished with seven birdies, trailing only Drew Buffaloe of Bob Jones University, who carded eight. He also tied for second place in Par five scoring at 4.75 (-2).
Bob Jones University finished in third place (621), followed by Brevard College (630), Erskine College B (632), Spartanburg Methodist College (639) and Emmanuel College (640).
GSW’s Elias Birkeland turned in an 11-over 82 to finish tied for tenth place after being tied for the tournament lead after Round one. Wil Hernandez shot back-to-back rounds of 78 to come in tied for 14th, while Ryan Cahill and Oly Brown both carded a 77 to finish tied for 22nd and 24th, respectively.
