Phoebe Sumter hosts Women’s Health Fair Saturday

AMERICUS — Phoebe Sumter Medical Center’s annual Women’s Health Fair will take place Saturday, Oct. 21 on Georgia Southwestern State University’s campus at the Student Success Center from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event, which is open to the public, features health screenings, information booths, door prizes, continental breakfast, zumba and yoga demonstrations.
The keynote speaker for the event is Jannice Beckford, MD, a primary care physician at Phoebe Primary Care & Sports Medicine. Prior to joining Phoebe Physicians, she completed her residency at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Family Medicine Residency program in Tallahassee, Fla. In 2008, she earned her medical degree from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. Before moving to the United States, Beckford worked as a primary care physician at St. James and Trelawny Health Departments in Jamaica and at Cayman Islands Health Services Authority in Grand Cayman. Beckford will discuss cervical cancer and what women need to know. Other presenters and topics include Kim Hicks, RD on “When Kitchens Attack” and Rosemary Duprey, RN, F.A.S.T presentation.
