(Oct. 10-20)
• Firefighters responded to 41 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Golden Gourmet, 107 Industrial Blvd. Upon arrival, they were told it was a test.
• Firefighters responded to East Forsyth and North Lee streets to a report pf a vehicle striking a power pole. A semi had caught a low-hanging cable from the pole and pulled it loose. The cable was tightened and Georgia Power was notified.
• Firefighters responded to Lonnie Lane to an alarm. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to West Lester Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to a report of a tree limb in the roadway. They cut the small tree limb with a chainsaw and removed it from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Southerfield Road.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on South Hampton Street. They were told by the occupant that the stove was turned on by mistake and would not turn off and had smoked the house. Fire personnel ventilated the structure.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Madison Street where they found that cooking had smoke up the structure. It was ventilated.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Scott’s Jewelry, 210 W. Lamar St. It was accidentally activated.
• Firefighters stood by at Southland Academy for a football game.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Eaton Lighting, 1101 Southerfield Road. There was no fire but a problem with one of the detectors.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Tripp Street.
• Firefighters responded to Hancock Drive to a report of a smoke odor. They observed light gray smoke throughout the structure and found an air conditioning unit with a burned wire. They advised homeowner not to start the unit until an electrician repairs it. They cleared the smoke.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 280.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Americus-Sumter High School, 805 Harrold Ave., which turned out to be a malicious false alarm.
• Firefighters responded to DQ Grill & Chill Restaurant, 1321 E. Lamar St., to an alarm. There were nbo hazards but a malfunctioning alarm system.
• Firefighters responded to Ridge Street to a report of a cooking fire. The fire had been put out upon arrival but personnel ventilated the area of smoke.
• Firefighters responded to Bill Cross Street to a report of smoke coming from a sewer drain. They observed burned pine straw in the street leading to the drain. They extinguished the smoldering material.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on South Lee Street.

• Firefighters responded to a grass fire on Mask Road.
• Firefighters responded to a grass fire on Timber Lane.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on Lower Five Point Road. There was no fire.

• Tanrance L. Cummings, 23, of 303 E. Hill St., Apt. E, Americus; failure to maintain lane, misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officer, misdemeanor driving while license is suspended or revoked.
• Wayne Ewings, 51, of Southland Heights Apartments, 113 Ga. Highway 27 East, Apt. B3, Americus; child molestation, and sexual battery against a child under age 16.
• John L. Hagin, 28, of 6543 U.S. Highway 19 South, Americus; disorderly conduct.
