COBB — Funeral services for Freda B. Gilliam of Cobb will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Freda, 74, passed away Sunday, Oct.  22, 2017, at the residence of her daughter. She was born in Cullman, Ala., and was the daughter of the late William McKinley Barnett and Effie Madelea Morrison Barnett. She was a retired bus driver for the Sumter County School System and an active member of Victory Baptist Church. Freda was a people person and had a word and a beautiful and bright smile for all that she met. She loved her family, doting on her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her flowers and music, especially gospel sings. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Grady and Mary Gilliam of Cordele, Roy and Gail Gilliam and Phyllis and Jason Keaton, all of Cobb, Eugene and Dianne Gilliam of Cordele and Joellen and Jack Mullis of Cobb; her loving companion, Donald West of Cobb; a sister, Rachel Rentfrow of Cordele; 11 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy Gilliam, a grandson, Rusty Mullis and siblings, Avery Barnett, Dennis Gilliam, Charlotte York, Dot Barnett, Lorene Lindsey and Beverly Jane Barnett.
