This 1850s house was being moved Tuesday from North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Americus to a site in Lee County, near Leslie, where it will be restored. The undertaking was halted on the east side of the railroad tracks on McLittle Bridge Road when an axle broke. Work will resume Wednesday morning and the journey will continue. Architect Barry Mathis, an Americus native, is in charge of the moving and restoration phases.
