AMERICUS — Richard Bernard Bopp, 79, of Cobb, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus. A native of Johnstown, Pa., he was born Jan. 2, 1938. He was a member of First Street Church of Christ, a 30-year member of the Lions Club, and was a retired special education teacher. After service in both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army, he retired after serving over 20 years.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus with the Rev. Glenn Jarrett officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Bopp of Cobb; five daughters: Mitzi Palmer of McDonough, Crystal Deen of Cobb, Teresa Gilliam of Cordele, Candace Taylor of Cordele, and Jessica Weeks of Cordele; and three sons: Bryan Bopp of Gibson, John Hill of Odessa, Fla., and Jeffery Hill of Cordele. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus GA 31719.
