AMERICUS — Jimmy Leroy Jordan, 77, of Americus, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A native of Thomaston, he was born April 10, 1940, to the late Ernest Willie Jordan Sr. and Bessie Lou McCrary Jordan. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. After retiring with 29 years in the United States Army, he also retired as a major from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Funeral services with military honors are planned for noon, Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at Andersonville National Cemetery with the Rev. Bud Womack and the Rev. Damon Fountain officiating.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Jordan of Americus; two daughters and sons-in-law: Debbie and David Bond of Andersonville, and Susan and Jimmy Baughcum of Valdosta; and a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tammy Jordan of Owasso, Okla. Also surviving are 11  grandchildren: Andy Moore, Heather Moore, Matthew Jordan, Ashlyn Stientz, Michael Jordan, Manley Jordan, Abbey Jordan, Mason Jordan, Jessica Waters, Jordan Baughcum, and Kaylee Baughcum; and two great-grandchildren: London Flietner and Daylon Flietner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest W. Jordan Jr.
