Harvest of Hope Food Pantry is thankful
We are closing in on the end of 2017, in fact, the last two months of this year. During this time we celebrate two of the great seasons of the year. The first season that we celebrate is Thanksgiving, a time when we stop and remember all of the things for which we are thankful and say, “Thank you.” At Harvest of Hope Food Pantry we are thankful for many things: (1) our many faithful volunteers, (2) that we have been able to provide food for all of our clients, (3) for those who have provided the financial and food resources that enable us to provide for our clients, (4) for Food Lion which provides meat, deli items, and produce, (5) for local farmers who provide fresh vegetables in season, (6) for Tyson which provides chicken, (7) and the list could go on.
But, just as well, what are YOU thankful for? What does your list look like? Take a few minutes and list five or six blessings because each one of us has been so blessed. As you think about your blessings, remember that the Christmas season is coming right on the tail of Thanksgiving. Our celebration of Christmas is born out of giving. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”  In the spiritual realm, everything we have is given to us.
In the natural, it is easy to say “I earned everything that I have.” But in God’s word, God said that He gives you the ability to make money. God calls on us to be good stewards of what he has entrusted to us. As you consider your giving at the Christmas season, please consider adding Harvest of Hope Food Pantry to your Christmas gift list. It is nice to give to those who can give back to us, but it is a wonderful experience to give to those who cannot give back to us. Giving to those who cannot give back to you fulfills the true spirit of both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We, at Harvest of Hope Food Pantry, are truly thankful that we are able to be your hands to serve the Sumter County Community, but at the same time, we are completely dependent on each of you. If you would like to visit Harvest of Hope Food Pantry, come any Monday from 7:00am until 9:30am or Tuesday from 7:00am until 11:30am (note: we are closed on weeks that include a 5th Tuesday in the month). You are always welcome to come to see what we do. If you would like to volunteer, come and visit and see if you would like to be blessed. If you would like a personal testimony of what it is like to work at Harvest of Hope Food Pantry, talk to one of our volunteers. Some of our volunteers have worked with Harvest of Hope from day one when we opened in June of 2013.
Out November distribution is on our regular Tuesday schedule. However, our December distribution schedule will be Wednesday and Thursday, December 20th and 21st. In November, our clients will be getting a reminder of their distribution time for December.
