AMERICUS — James “Jimmy” Foxworth Horne, 78, of Americus, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. A native of Americus, he was born Sept. 5, 1939, to the late Harold Augustus Horne and Marie Greenly Horne.

Mr. Horne grew up in Americus, attended Darlington School in Rome and graduated from Americus High in 1958. He also attended Southern Poly Tech in Atlanta. He proudly served in the National Guard and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant in 1966, and in the late ‘90s, he retired from Reeves Construction. O’Daddy, as he was lovingly referred to by his grandsons, was preceded in death by the love of his life of more than 50 years, his wife, Emma Hodges Horne.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends after the service at Mr. Horne’s residence, 141 Country Lane Road, Americus.

Survivors include his three daughters and two sons-in-law: Tina and Joe McKenzie of Milton, Emilie Wille of Americus, and Lisa and Bruce Shiver of Sale City; and two grandsons: Austin Douglas Wille and Bradley James Wille, both of Americus.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Harold Augustus Horne Jr. and John Greenly Horne.
