GSW’s Polly named to PBC All-Conference Second Team

AMERICUS – Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) senior Silvio Polly has been named to the 2017 Peach Belt All-Conference Second Team. The announcement was made recently at the league’s annual men’s soccer awards banquet in Augusta. Polly became the first GSW men’s soccer player to be a two-time All-Conference selection after being named First Team All-Conference in 2016.
Polly appeared in all 16 matches this season and started 15 contests for the Hurricanes. He led the team with eight goals and three assists while recording game-winning scores against Milligan College and Concordia College (Ala.).
The Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, native accounted for 36 percent of the Hurricanes scoring in 2017 and his eight goals tied for fifth in the conference. Polly’s 19 points also ranks fifth in the conference this season. He finished second in program history for most goals in a season with back-to-back eight goal campaigns and is the all-time leader in career points.
Polly turned in a two-goal outing in the Hurricanes 5-3 loss at North Georgia and found the net in seven games overall in 2017. He finishes his career as a Hurricane with 23 goals, 10 assists and 56 points.
