AMERICUS — The Sumter County Chamber of Commerce presented the November “Small Business of the Month” to Café Campesino Coffee House & Sweet Georgia Baking Co.
Cafe Campesino owners Bill Harris, Lee Harris and Tripp Pomeroy opened the company’s Americus coffee house in 2007, which has become Southwest Georgia’s best source of small-batch-roasted, 100 percent fair trade, organic coffees that are sold by the cup and by the bag. In 2015, they moved the shop outside of the roastery to its current location across from the Windsor Hotel in Americus.
Sweet Georgia Baking Co. was established in 2012, by owner Lee Harris. His unique, Southern-inspired, “made-from-scratch” sandwiches and baked goods landed Sweet Georgia on Trip Advisor’s list of top 10 best restaurants in Americus and “100 Plates Locals Love” on Explore Georgia, the official travel and tourism website of the state of Georgia He is also a graduate of New England Culinary Institute and a former co-owner of Cypress Restaurant in Tallahassee.
