DULUTH — Linda Ruth (Greene) Mize, age 77, of Duluth, Ga., passed away Nov. 13, 2017. A Gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory. Linda was born on Nov, 6, 1940, in Swainsboro, Ga. She was the daughter of the late Jesse W. Greene and the late Sarah Dorothy (Hunt) Greene, both of Macon, Ga. Linda is preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Billie (Greene) McGrath of Acworth, Ga., and Janis Mildred (Greene) Tangen of Grand Forks, N.D. Linda attended Bibb County Schools and graduated from A.L. Miller high school in Macon, Ga., in the class of 1958. She attended Auburn University with a major in English. At North Georgia College, she majored in secondary education for teacher certification. At Georgia State University, Linda majored in political science and world geography, and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree. She taught English and social studies to grades 7th-12th in the Forsyth County School System. Some of her major interests were St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., being with family and friends, interior design and antiques. Among other interest were classic movies, and music, which included opera, classical, country, and classic rock. She enjoyed reading, American and world history, American politics and college and professional football. Linda is survived by her husband, Jan Lee Mize; son Jonathan Lee Mize; daughter Jessica Dorothy Daves and her husband, Donnie; granddaughter, Savannah Mize; grandsons, Justin Marshall, Joshua Marshall, Devin Daves and Parker Mize. She is also survived by her nephews Donald McGrath Jr. and Jimmy McGrath; niece, Lisa McGrath and the families of the proceeding three survivors.
