AUGUSTA — Mr. Newton “Ned” Baker Parker, age 84, of Ideal, Ga., passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017. in Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Tuesday, Nov 21 at Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, Ga., with the Rev. Chris Hall and Pastor Muff Martin officiating the service. A graveside service is to follow at 2 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Mr. Parker was born on Dec. 25, 1932, in Sumter County, Ga., to the late E.W. Parker and Minnie Bradley Parker. He retired from Robins Air Force Base in electronics after 32 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a faithful member of Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelby Jean Ethridge Parker.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Ricky Rodgers of Ellaville, Ga.; one sister, Carolyn Bell of Independence, Missouri; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws, Wayne and Brenda Ethridge of Oglethorpe, Ga., Neal and Diana Greene of Ideal, Ga., and Erylene Peaster of Montezuma, Ga.; one great-grandchild, Christian Toms of Ellaville, Ga.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial contributions may be made to Whitewater Baptist Church, 1955 State Route 128, Oglethorpe GA 31068.
