• Firefighters responded to 46 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to South Lee Street to a report of a strong gas odor. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at East Forsyth and Mayo streets.
• Firefighters stood by during two football games at Americus Sumter High School, 805 Harrold Ave.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at the former UPS Store at 1602 E. Forsyth St. in Americus Village shopping center. It was triggered by one of the staff accidentally wetting the detector.
• Firefighters responded to East Forsyth Street to a report of a gas leak from a vehicle. They found a gas line that had been ruptured due to a vehicle striking a curb.
• Firefighters responded to Magnolia Street to a report of a gas odor. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to Park Row Extension to a report of a gasoline odor. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a report of wires in the roadway at Felder Street and Wildwood Circle. They found a broken cable line lying in the roadway still attached to the utility pole.
• Firefighters responded to Badcock Home Furniture and More at 1607 E. Lamar St. The manager told them the water flow valve had activated the alarm. There were no hazards.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Crawford Street.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Adderton Street.
• Firefighters responded to Douglas Circle to a report of wires down. They found a low-hanging cable/phone line and removed it.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a gas leak on Park Row. The occupant said the carbon monoxide detectors were sounding, and that the pilot light had gone out and he had relit it. They cut the gas off.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Eaton, 1101 Southerfield Road. The alarm had been set off by a particle of dust.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Ga. Highway 30 and Magnolia Court.
• Firefighters responded to Sharon Circle to assist someone in a wheelchair into a residence.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm at Zaxby’s, 1204 Crawford St. The alarm was inadvertently activated.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Heads Avenue. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at East Lamar Street and Hanson Drive.
