Cordelia Rooks: Nov. 24, 2017

AMERICUS — Ms. Cordelia Rooks, 86, of Americus, Ga., passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26 from the graveside at Concord Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Avera officiating.

 

Ms. Rooks was born Oct. 21, 1931, in Americus, Ga., to the late Powell Buchanan and the late Ira Gertrude Wynn Buchanan. Ms. Rooks was retired from the Department of Transportation as a secretary and was a member of Concord Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include two sons: Eddie Rooks (Bonnie) of Steinhatchee, Fla., and Martin Rooks of Plains, Ga.; and one sister: Linda Williams of Atlanta, Ga. Ms. Rooks is also survived by three grandchildren, Tina Bowman, Kristi Brown and Kendal Ehrensperger; six great-grandchildren,

Rooks Ehrensperger, Kristi Ehrensperger, Blake Brown, Brooklyn Brown, Bryce Brown and Sims Bowman; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Ms. Rooks was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Rigsby and Mary Ruth Kenmore; and three brothers, Joe Buchanan, Fred Buchanan and Julian Buchanan.
