Special events planned for Christmas

AMERICUS — The annual Open Hands Community Christmas Dinner is served at noon Monday, Christmas Day at First United Methodist Church, 200 S. Lee St.
Dine in and enjoy fellowship while celebrating Christmas. Carry-outs will be available if food remains after all have been served. Shut-ins may call 924-7072 or 591-6509 to arrange for delivery.
All are also invited to a worship service at 10:15 a.m.
A “Blue Christmas’ or “Longest Night” service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church, 408 S. Lee St., and can be a helpful way to re-think Christmas.
This service is for all those that have lost loved ones; suffered a job loss or loss of income; struggle with addiction; are estranged from family and friends; or simply feel lonely and sad during this holiday season. The service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 25. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.
