AMERICUS — South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) Americus campus chapter had its annual Season of Giving recently, raising over 400 food items, Trauma Bears, and Toys for Tots for the community.
PBL’s Season of Giving is an annual series of fundraisers to help individuals in the community who are in need. The Season of Giving was a success with a total of 276 non-perishable food items donated to Harvest of Hope, 116 stuffed animals donated to the local fire department, and 17 toys to the local Department of Family and Children Services. Since the first Season of Giving in 2014, a total of 2,634 non-perishable food items, 530 stuffed animals, and 133 Toys for Tots have been donated.
SGTC’s academic programs were recognized for contributing to The Season of Giving. Each first-place program received a trophy, and the top three contributors received a certificate. The Food Drive results were: First place, Americus-Sumter High School FBLA; second place, Business Technology Program; and third place, Computer Information Systems Program. The Trauma Bear results were: First place, Criminal Justice Program; Second Place, Business Technology Program; and Third place, Americus-Sumter High School FBLA. Toys for Tots results were: First place, Americus-Sumter High School FBLA and second place tie, Early Childhood Care & Education Program and Criminal Justice Program.
FBLA-PBL’s mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.
