AMERICUS — Joyce Abel Parrott, 70, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 16, 2017, at her home in Americus, Georgia, after some struggle and complications with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. Jerry Rowe, the Rev. Dr. Michael Kennedy and the Rev. Jason Waters will officiate. Please dress casually for the Celebration of Life.

Joyce was born on March 18, 1947, in Macon, Georgia, the first of two daughters of Pete and Libby Abel. She was raised in Macon, Georgia, where she met and married Frank Holland Parrott. The couple spent 10 years in Augusta, Georgia, before moving to Albany, Georgia, then on to Americus, Georgia. Mrs. Parrott supported her husband’s medical practice in both Albany and Americus, Georgia, as office manager. She most recently was an administrative assistant for the Sumter County Board of Education Special Education Department.

Joyce was proceeded in death by her husband of 39 years, Frank Holland Parrott.

Mrs. Parrott was a member of First United Methodist Church of Americus, Ga., and Sheffield-Wooten Sunday School Class at the church. She continued to be involved with family, friends, volunteer work, and various bridge groups.

Joyce is survived by her son, David (Felisa) Parrott of Americus, Georgia, and two daughters, Julie Parrott (Jason) Waters of Chesapeake, Va., and Janie Parrott (Michael) Kennedy of Parrish, Fla.; two grandsons, Jon and Seth; six granddaughters, Caitlin, Sarah Beth, MariBeth, Brittany, Anna, and Leah; one sister, Jenny (Donald) Folds of Albany, Ga.; one nephew, Mike Grace, and several cousins.
