Sumter County Middle School seventh-graders in Beth Smith’s ELA (English language arts) classes are studying the different types of textual structure in informational writing. The students made ‘folding notes’ to add to their interactive notebooks. Each set of ‘folding notes’ included various types of information that will help students identify different types of textual structure. This information includes: types of textual structure, graphic organizers, definitions, examples, and signal words for each type of textual structure. Pictured are students displaying their ‘folding notes’ filled with user-friendly information. From left are Keeya Little, Ayahna Upshaw, Madison Barthell, Curtissa Evans, and Tyreonna Denmark.
