Ellaville Methodist Church holds monthly fellowship supper
On Jan. 16, Ellaville United Methodist Church held its monthly fellowship supper. This special event is always held on the third Tuesday of each month.
A covered dish supper was served, after which a Talent Show was held. It was very impressive to see all the children perform.
About 30 attended this fellowship supper.

Schley County CHEART meets
On Jan. 24, the Schley County CHEART held its first quarterly meeting for 2018 at the Schley County Courthouse.
Kristy Smith, Schley County health nurse, called the meeting to order.
There were people from Phoebe Sumter Medical Center as well as the District Health Department, Schley County Schools, Schley County Health board, law enforcement, emergency medical services and others were present.
There were 17 in attendance.
The main discussion at the meeting was about the flu that is going around now. Help yourselves as well as your family by getting the flu shot. Then when you return home from being around others, wash your hands and then use hand sanitizers. Be sure that the sanitizer has an alcohol-base.
The best thing to do is to stay home and not be around others while they are sick.

Ellaville/Schley Historical Society board meets
On Jan. 23, the Ellaville/Schley County Historical Society board met at the Schley County Courthouse.
Nancy McMath Young, president, called the meeting to order and Wilbur Justice opened with prayer.
The organization is getting ready for a Membership Drive, and the annual Dinner Party was also discussed.
The board also discussed that Ellaville United Methodist Church will celebrate its 160th anniversary on Oct. 14.
The president received some information on the time capsule that was placed at the new Courthouse in 1899, when the present Courthouse was built. She read the history of the structure and told about a big dinner was served that day by the Masons Lodge of Ellaville.
The capsule was placed later that day. Bessie Lou Sears Lightner was in charge of the music.
