VALDOSTA – The Southland Raiders lost a crucial region game Tuesday night, February 6, at Valwood by the score of 55-44. This means the Raiders can’t finish any higher than second place going into next week’s region tournament at the GSW Storm Dome next Thursday and Friday, February 15-16.

Southland senior guard Saige Batten led the Raiders in scoring with 24 points. “We did not shoot the ball well, but the encouraging thing is we have good shooters on the team”, Southland Head Coach Rundy Foster said. “That will be easily remedied. I was pleased with our defense and our effort and we are excited about next week.

Southland now has an overall record of 17-4 and is now 5-2 in region play. The Raiders will close out their regular season at home on Senior Night Friday, February 9, against Brookwood. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
