Things in Keisha Hobbs’ fifth-grade class at Furlow Charter School were a-whooshin’, zipping, and squeezing when Laura Gerlach stopped by to read ‘On Top of Spaghetti’ to the class for World Read Aloud Day. Scholars learned that using vivid verbs makes narrative writing exciting for readers. After Gerlach’s yodeling rendition, scholars used various resources to find synonyms for verbs in the story.
