Early morning wreck results in critical injury

AMERICUS — One driver was sustained critical injuries early Friday while the other walked away unharmed.
Cpl. Allen Storey of the Georgia State Patrol Post 10, Americus, which investigated the crash, said that Dale Fletcher Scarborough, 55, of Americus, was driving a Chrysler PT Cruiser, traveling west when it veered into the eastbound lane and struck a refrigerated milk truck head-on. The truck was driven by Ronald David Tipton, 64, of Albany. The impact occurred at 4:30 a.m. Friday east of the railroad tracks on McLittle Bridge Road, south of Americus. After impact, both vehicle weres in the ditch on the north side of the roadway.
The trooper said that Scarborough was transported by EMS to Phoebe Sumter Medical Center with critical injuries.
The crash closed the road until 8:15 a.m., according to Storey, who said that charges are pending.
